Questions
Questions about water testing and filters
If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.
What does the water test include?
We measure hardness, chlorine or chloramine, total dissolved solids, pH and iron at your kitchen tap with a field kit, and we note any smell. Anything beyond that, such as lead, bacteria or nitrates, goes to a laboratory, and we hand you the laboratory's own result.
What does a test visit cost?
The fee is stated when you book and written on your appointment text. If you order a system from the proposal, the fee is credited toward it. The report is yours either way.
Will I get a price before work starts?
Yes. A written proposal follows the test, with the system, the install and the cartridge schedule itemized. Nothing is ordered until you sign it.
Do I need a whole-home system?
Often not. If the readings only affect what you drink and cook with, a kitchen system is enough, and we say so.
How do I know you are licensed?
The license number is in the footer of every page, with a link to the state's lookup. Check it there, and ask us for the insurance certificate if you want to see it.
Do you pull permits?
Where the town requires one for the work, yes. The proposal says whether yours does.
How long does an install take?
Most kitchen units are done in one visit. A whole-home system takes longer, and the proposal gives the time and the date we have agreed.
How often do filters change?
It depends on the stage and on how much water the house uses. Your proposal lists each cartridge and its interval, and we text you before one is due.
Will a filter deal with lead in old pipes?
A field test at the tap cannot measure lead, and we do not promise a system handles it. Homes built before 1986 may have lead solder or older fittings. A laboratory test is the way to know, and your utility or the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline can tell you what to ask.
My water just turned cloudy or brown.
A sudden change can come from work on a water main or from something inside the house. Run the cold tap for a few minutes, and if it does not clear, call your utility. A filter is not the fix for a sudden change.
Can you service a system someone else installed?
We look at it first and tell you what we find. We do not promise to service every make.
When are you open, and where do you go?
Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are a water-quality firm, not a dispatch for burst pipes: if water is running, shut off the main valve and call a plumber who takes those calls. The service area page has the neighborhoods.
Still have a question?
Call or send the form. A person answers, and we do not push a system.
