Whole-home water quality, Naples

Know what is in your water before you choose a filter

We test the water at your kitchen tap, put the readings on one page, and suggest a system only if the page calls for one. Delva Water Quality is Marlon Delva and a crew of five, working from Naples.

Sample report

The one page you keep after the test

These readings are made up and belong to no home. Your report lists what we measured at your tap in the same plain columns, with a line on what each reading changes about the system we would suggest.

What it tells usSample reading
HardnessWhat it tells usScale on glass and fixtures. Decides whether a softener belongs in the plan at all.Sample reading14 grains per gallon
Chlorine or chloramineWhat it tells usThe taste and smell of tap water. Decides which carbon filter fits.Sample reading3.0 mg/L
Total dissolved solidsWhat it tells usHow mineral the water tastes. Helps decide whether reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap is worth it.Sample reading420 mg/L
pHWhat it tells usA background reading for the fittings and filter media we would choose.Sample reading7.7
IronWhat it tells usOrange stains on fixtures and laundry. A higher reading calls for a different first stage.Sample reading0.1 mg/L
Odor at the tapWhat it tells usA sulfur smell points to the source, often a well. We note it and say what we would check.Sample readingNone noted

Where your water comes from

Start from the source, not the product

The same filter does not suit a city main, a private well and a condo with shared plumbing. Pick the line that sounds like your house.

  • A hand holds a glass under a running chrome kitchen tap

    City or county water

Treated by a utility, with a disinfectant you can taste. A carbon filter or a kitchen system usually answers it, and your utility's yearly water report is the place to start.

  • A rusty cast-iron hand pump standing in a grass field

    A private well

Nobody tests it for you unless you do. We take readings first, then look at iron, hardness and sulfur smell before anything is sized.

  • A black pull-down kitchen tap beside a slim second tap over a stainless sink

    A condo or villa

Shared plumbing, a small closet or none. Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is often the fit, and we ask your association before we cut anything.

  • The covered porch of a white frame house among palm fronds

    A second home

A house that sits empty for months needs a flush on arrival and a cartridge schedule that follows your season, not the calendar.

Kitchen or whole house

Drinking water and house water are different jobs

A kitchen system treats what you drink and cook with. A whole-home system treats everything that runs through the house.

Most households start at the kitchen tap. We say so when that is enough, and we say so when the readings point to the whole house.

What we install

  • Reverse osmosis: one extra tap at the sink

  • Whole-home carbon: taste and smell at every tap

  • Both together, only when the readings call for it

How we write a proposal

What we leave out of it

Water treatment is a field where a lot of promises get made. Ours are short.

We do not call water safe, pure or healthier. A reading is a reading: we show it, say what it changes about the system, and stop there.

We do not say a system removes a named contaminant unless the lab result and the manufacturer's data sheet for that exact model are both in your proposal.

We do not suggest a system the readings do not call for. Sometimes the answer is a new cartridge in what you already have, and we will tell you that.

After the install

“The report was one page and I understood all of it. They told me my water did not need a whole-house system and fitted a kitchen unit instead. The tap was in the right place the first time.”

Carol F.Homeowner, Park Shore

“We are on a well. They tested before they talked about equipment, and the proposal said what each reading meant. Nothing was added that the page did not support.”

Viktor M.Homeowner, Golden Gate Estates

“Our building would not allow a tank, so the answer was a unit under the sink. They asked the association first and left the cabinet cleaner than they found it.”

  • Angel Prieto

    Lead installer

Sizes the system and fits it, under the sink or at the main.

  • Geraldine Pettway

    Customer care and scheduling

Questions

Before you book

What does the water test include?

We measure hardness, chlorine or chloramine, total dissolved solids, pH and iron at your kitchen tap with a field kit, and we note any smell. Anything beyond that, such as lead, bacteria or nitrates, goes to a laboratory, and we hand you the laboratory's own result.

What does a test visit cost?

The fee is stated when you book and written on your appointment text. If you order a system from the proposal, the fee is credited toward it. The report is yours either way. How pricing works has the rest.

Will I get a price before work starts?

Yes. A written proposal follows the test, with the system, the install and the cartridge schedule itemized. Nothing is ordered until you sign it.

Do I need a whole-home system?

Often not. If the readings only affect what you drink and cook with, a kitchen system is enough, and we say so.

How often do filters change?

It depends on the stage and on how much water the house uses. Your proposal lists each cartridge and its interval, and we text you before one is due.

Will a filter deal with lead in old pipes?

A field test at the tap cannot measure lead, and we do not promise a system handles it. Homes built before 1986 may have lead solder or older fittings. A laboratory test is the way to know, and your utility or the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline can tell you what to ask.
